Miss Tawny
Tawny Marshall has an extensive dance background in many areas, although her first love and main focus has always been classical ballet. She has trained and performed internationally which brings diversity to her teaching.
She started her training at the Colorado Springs Ballet Academy where she became certified through level 5 of the Cecchetti method. She also trained at the Colorado Ballet and throughout the country, including courses at Ballet West, Houston Ballet and private sessions.
She performed for three years in the Corps de Ballet and as a soloist in the Colorado Springs Ballet Company under the direction of John Callander, formerly of the New Zealand Ballet Company. Tawny also spent several years training and performing in Toronto, Canada. There she performed under the dircetion of Lois Smith, former prima ballerina of the National Ballet.
At the beginning of her teaching career, Tawny was responsible for every aspect of the ballet program at the Monument Dance Center. This was under the directorship of Tony Cappola from its opening in 1997 until May 2000. Subsequently, she also taught master classes around the country and had a ballet program at the Tri-Lakes Fine Art Center for several years. From early 1998 until December of 2002, she organized and taught the off-ice ballet program for all levels of figure skaters at the World Arena in Colorado Springs. In 2000 she began to incorporate more Middle Eastern Belly Dance into her teaching programs.
Since moving to Missouri in 2003, she has continued to teach ballet, Belly Dance, and fitness classes.
